About Us
Our goal is to provide a loving environment for
orphans, children who often were deprived of love through the
death of their parents, all from AIDS. We attempt in our little
school to give these orphans the basic necessities of life, food,
clothing, special Biblical teachings, counseling and comfort,
and a good education in a Christian tradition. We are trying to
create a society where individuals are taught to care for others,
to reach out to those in need as others have done to them.
Though there are more than 100,000 orphans in the district of
Kampala,86000 in Ssembabule District,Mbabaali Memorial is the
only school that accepts orphans without tuition. Many of these
orphans were abandoned at a very early stage, some are as young
as two. Some families are now headed by children of 10-15 years
of age, children who are incapable of providing the basic needs
of life for their brothers and sisters and who often are themselves
sickly and depressed.
The founders have one thing in common, they are what they are
now because other people reached out to help them. It was this
love extended to them at a very early stage that moved them to
start a school to meet the needs of the suffering Children.. In
the year 2000,They opened a small school with 30 orphans, a very
difficult selection process as 4,600 had applied. Currently the
school has 116 orphans and 85 paying pupils. The same opened another
school in Lwebitakuli Ssembabule District with 250 orphans, currently
with 620 orphans.
Unfortunately, Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world
and can do very little to help these orphans, charitable organizations
seem to be the only avenue of support. On an average day, we receive
more than 20 requests to attend our school, but our resources
are so limited that we turn almost all of them away. Some come
repeatedly to our door, hoping we will be able to find a place
for them
The programme is operated on one hectare of land
and is headed by a compassionate professional headmaster who is
assisted by ten dedicated teachers. The school operates classes
from Nursery to primary seven.
Our orphanage caters only for orphans who are victims
of AIDS plague. We provide only the basic needs of life and a
formal education in a Christian tradition. Our school facilities
accommodate 116 orphans and 60 paying pupils for a total of 176
students. The number of students is limited by our facilities.
